Baby
Here I am! Your own baby citrus. I hope you will take good care of me. Put me somewhere indoors with lots of light and give me a little water every other day.
After 2 weeks
After 2 weeks of pampering, it is time for a larger home! Preferably a pot of 2 litres or more with holes for drainage underneath (so I don’t drown).
Inside
At home in Asia, it is above 0°C all year round. This is why I prefer to stay indoors all year round as a baby.
Teenager
What you nurture will grow. Just like the average teenager I can go through a big growth spurt! Once I am twice the height of my pot, it is time to give my roots a little more space.
Fertilizer & temperature
You decide how big I can be. The bigger my pot, the bigger I get. But you can also prune me to your heart’s content. When I develop new leaves I get hungry and I will be very grateful for a little extra plant food!
I can appreciate getting some fresh air outside in the summer, but please let me get used to the harsh sun slowly.
Pruning & flowers
I’m a wild grower, so if you don’t prune me I will grow in all directions and reach a maximum height of 3 metres.
From the beginning, I smell wonderfully fragrant and in about 3 years I will amaze you with sweet-scented flowers, followed by makrut limes! What culinary delights will you make?
